Bobbie Rounds the World.
One day left!
This lady has big plans of sailing around the world.
24 months, 24,000 miles.
Jacob showed this to me. I think he is jealous someone is doing it before him.
I've got my money on a sailor hat.
Although, I wish I could afford to get a coconut in the mail.

ps22 Choir
I just heard about the ps22 choir guys on NPR.
I never thought a Lady Gaga song would give me chills.
Funny things happen when kids sing.
For instance, a song about being really drunk and trying to dance it off somehow seems charming.
Not tragic.

Clear Lake
This past weekend we went to clear lake near Bend.
We rented a row boat, had a picnic and stayed until dusk.
It was quite spectacular. You could see straight to the white sandy bottom at points it was 100 feet down and you could still see everything underneath.
There are free standing petrified trees in the middle of the lake that you can row right over. It appears that you are going to hit them but then you get there and realize the tops are still a good 10+ feet below you.
So great. I want to go back right now.

Campers
Jacob said I could help design the inside of the camper.
I wonder if he knows what that means.
He already gave the go ahead for table cloths and we discussed designing the table so that it has a built in vase holder. That way the flowers won't spill as he is off roading for the best surf spot. The table cloths will of course, have to be customized with a hole in the middle to fit around the vase.
Fun!
I think this wallpaper company had exactly what I have in mind.

Puerto Vallarta
I've been joking about wanting to go on a honeymoon lately.
You know, minus the marriage part.
The boy and I are headed to Puerto Vallarta in November.
That'll suffice.
Tropical.
Warm.
A good excuse to buy a J.Crew one-piece with an end of season discount.
Any suggestions of things we should see or do?

Closed
Last fall and winter were particularly hard on me.
I'm not sure why.
After nearly 18 years of living in Portland I would consider myself a seasoned, rainy-season vet.
I think it had something to do with the dark mornings and an equally dark-mooded roommate.
Either way, I have been preparing myself for the rain to start basically since it stopped.
I will be well armed with sweaters, SAD lightbulbs, cooking adventures and TONS of creative projects.
Closed's Fall & Winter 09/10 collection made me perk up about what's ahead.
Like busting out my black, trench coat and woven, wool scarf.
Yes please!

Eleven Heavy Things
Miranda July's Venice Biennale contribution.
Eleven outdoor sculptures to pose with.
My sissy would have loved this.
Sewing Room
I got my sewing area all set up yesterday.
Well, I moved it. Hopefully this new space will prove to be useful.
My inspiration for said move?
Browsing all the free patterns on Burda site.
Yes please!
I have piles and piles of fabric and I hope to make a good dent in it over the next week.
Starting with this skirt and a good navy, school-girl plaid.

Let's Run Away
It's been awhile since I have wanted to but I need it now.
Let's run away and build this house.
Quite honestly, I am sick of roommates.
I have only had them for one year but that is enough.
I knew better when I was younger.
We can have rooftop dinner parties for me.
Rooftop stargazing for you. Telescope and all.
I can imagine working all day in a well-lit office, filled purely with natural light.
There is your shop out back.
Quiet mornings. Owls at night.
The first meal made is coq au vin.
We can eat it while watching whatever film you like.
I'll most likely drink too much wine and fall asleep half way through.
Please? Can we? Let's run away.

Ed Benguiat
His fonts make me want to sing carols, drink hot cocoa and and read tin tin.
Basically be a child again.

Julie + Julia
I've spent years scouring antique stores and Goodwills for Julia Childs' books.
Own most.
At 5, I preferred the french chef to sesame street.
Read Julie + Julia and wished I had thought of it.
Listened to every subsequent interview with the author, Julie Powell.
I have been patiently waiting since hearing Meryl Streep was cast as Julia Child, to see this movie.
6 more days.
I cannot wait.
Until then....an old clip.
