Bowerbirds

Playing at Mississippi Studios on Saturday.

They canceled their show last December. I cried a little bit.

See you there.

If you can't make it, at least enjoy their take away show:

Paper Trees & Cities

The papercut works of artist Su Blackwell is awe inspiring. I cannot fathom the amount of time and careful attention to detail that went into each work.

Canoeing Trip

I want to plan a canoeing trip in the Portland area for next weekend. Anyone have any ideas of where to go? I heard the Tualatin is good for a day on the river close to town.

Maybe the Santiam?

Any suggestions?

101 Simple Salads

It is 100+ degrees.

The only things I have been able to stomach are shrimp cocktail and green salads.

Oh, and a killer float of cinnamon gelato and cream soda. Tastes like rice pudding but better!

I think i'll try to find a different salad option tonight. Maybe #48?

Toss roughly chopped dandelion greens (or arugula or watercress) with chopped preserved lemon, chickpeas, crumbled feta and olive oil.

60th Anniversary

I just got back from Ohio. My grandparents have been married for 60 years. That is cause for celebration.

There were multiple funny conversations. Among them was this:

Cousin: Can believe you have been married that long?!?
Grandma: Ohhhhhh, yes.
Cousin: Grandma you're supposed to say no!
Grandma: Feels like its been longer.

She doesn't mince words.

One of the best parts about it were these cape cod honeymoon pictures my aunt had digitized from slides.
Slides!

A couple things of note.

1. My grandma was a total hottie.
2. The dress and bathing suit are fabulous.
3. That is finally a shade of red lipstick I can pull off. Coral-y, orange-y red. Subtle but gorgeous. Buying tomorrow.

Cigarette Girls

There were cigarette girls allover Las Vegas.

It seems like such an old fashioned idea but it was still executed so well. It didn't seem cliché or tacky at all. (This could be because they were surrounded by the most cliché and tacky.)

Monsters.

I have had a ridiculous week. This week has included: 2 site launches, SEO content class, branding someone with their spirit animal, meetings, meetings, meetings....

Now I am off to Las Vagas followed by Toledo, OH for 11 days. Dear God.

In celebration of being done and in great mourning of my upcoming travels, JP and I treated ourselves to our new favorite thing: Burgers at Le Pigeon.

What? Hour and a half wait for the bar? Ok, we'll be splitting a bottle of wine at The Farm.

Followed by more wine. And burgers.

Mmmm.

94 Degrees

94 degrees today and tons of work to do.

Can't I just go swimming and eat kaffir fruit salad all day?

That would be grand.

You know what else would be grand?

Those sunglasses. Love.

Jumpsuits

I have had these sitting on my desktop for over 2 months.

I am on a quest for the perfect black, sueded silk jumpsuit.

Anyone have any suggestions that aren't in the 500 bazillion dollar range?

Just askin'

Together. Forever.

I did it.

After 8 years of plotting and planning I got the nerve to put a fork from my grandmother's fancy silver set (used for holidays only) on my arm.

For-ev-er.

It'll be softer and lighter after it heals. I love it.

P.S. Brian at Scapegoat did the work and he was super friendly, gentle and crazy talented. I highly recommend him to anyone in portland looking to get work done.
