Full Circle
It all started May 23, 2008 with a first date to a M83 show.
A girl standing in front of us was wearing a hat with a fake mohawk. We traded places so you could see better half way through.
November 27, 2008 we went to M83 again to celebrate 6 months.
That girl with the fake mohawk was there with an equally annoying hat. Although, this time she was not right in front of us.
Tonight, May 23, 2009 M83 is playing again in Portland.
xo luv, it has been a great year.

Northern Lights
In Our Talons was one of my favorite albums from '08. I was super stoked to see them at the doug fir in December. Then the canceled the end of their tour. Boo.
Well, all is good. They have a new album due out in July and are going to be at Mississippi Studios in August.
Hooray!

Sandra Beijur
“I would describe my style as a French musical from the sixties, because that’s how I want my life to be.” - Sandra Beijur
So great.

Off to Cali.
The boy and I are road trippin' to visit the sister and friends.
Be back next wednesday.
Until then I hope I am wearing something like this everyday until I am back.
Outfit via: Camp Comfort.
Orland Nutt
Trinity of Three Dragons from Orland Nutt on Vimeo.
Local video artist Orland Nutt won Peripheral Produce's Invitational again this year.
I liked his film but preferred Roger Beebe's. As did most of my group.
Trinity of Three Dragons is what he won with last year. And, It was by far my favorite of '08.
3/50 Project
I went to a networking event last night. One of the women there owned a small consignment boutique Here We Go Again. She brought in fliers for the 3/50 Project.
It is such a great idea. I can do it! You can do it! We all should do it!

Hrm.
Do you think I can get away with this outfit.
In my size, obvz.
Is it weird that my new style icon is approx. 3 years of age?
I'm kinda in love. In fact, I think I have all the pieces.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil.
I have been dying to see Anvil! The Story of Anvil since I heard about it at Sundance.
I watched it on Sunday night and was moved almost enough to buy their new album. I don't even like metal. Maybe i'll just buy the new album and movie for my dad for Father's Day instead.
Deal.
Watch it.

American Science & Surplus
I am in love with the Militaria and Garden sections of American Science & Surplus.
I need an ACS projector and British Military Ship card set.
A cute website too. Line drawings of all items?!?
So great!
What Claudia Wore
Holy blog crush!
I've been wanting to start a Babysitter's Club Book Club. Well, just re-read one of 'em with some other die hard bsc fans. I think I would only have one book in me.
The I would realize how bad they actually were and ruin a key part of my childhood history.
Maybe i'll just stick to dissecting the fashion from fictional 80s pre-teen icons.

We Get It!
There is an ongoing joke about how much the New York Times loves Portland.
I keep wanting to disprove it but everytime you turn around there is a new feature.
Like Sunday's Frugal Portland.
I grew up in New York but have lived here since the 90s. Sadly to say, I am almost as local as it gets. My Mother's boyfriend moved here from NY last spring after reading so much about it in the times.
I am okay with people moving here. Boo to raised rents, any loss of indie spirit, more traffic blah blah blah. But please, dear god, bring decent jobs with you so we can stop reading stories like this.

Life with Brett.
My roommate is going away for two whole months.
This morning he reminded me why I started Life with Brett in the first place.
I kinda let is slide but now I am sad he will be gone.

Heidi Merrick
I want summer to come so badly.
Then I would wear dresses like these everyday.
And spin in circles.
And lay on the grass.
And eat from my garden.
Also, her blog says she wants to a dress to an actress from BSG I went to high school with. It makes me want to say i'll take one too and put you in touch! Do you think she'll go for it?
xoxo Heidi Merrick.

Hauschka
Excellent show at the Holocene tonight.
Hauschka is some of my favorite piano music. Excellent to work and drink your morning coffee to.
I love when musicians can stretch the limits of their instruments and use them in unexpected ways with unexpected results. Volker Bertelmann has attached beer bottles, telephone cords, and any other random object he can find to create delicate and sometimes haunting experimental piano music.
Mmmm.

I also have a thing for skinny Germans. Oops.
Working from home blues...
Most of the time I love being at home and doing my own thing.
I don't worry about my boss catching me on facebook.
I'm tired? Take a nap! Who cares that it isn't even noon.
Pajamas? Boyfriend jeans & stripey socks? Spring dress? Anything I want!
I do miss co-workers the change of scenery and listening to other peoples conversations.
These offices made me jealous.

Garance Doré
Fashion Illustration was one of my favorite classes in the Apparel program.
We were off'd points for thinking outside the box on project guidelines and therefor not allowed much room for creativity.
It was mostly lame.
Wish I could have played around more like these illustrations from Garance Doré.
Supplies
Looking for a reason to order these from Nice Packaging.
Birthday? Mother's Day? Father's Day? Just Because?
Do I need a reason?

100 Abandoned Houses
Here are six.
I would like one. Then I would like to re-build it.
And turn one of the bedrooms into a closet.
With a divan. Another into a sewing studio. Big island in the kitchen.
Claw foot tub.
Mmmmm.
